winter gardens, morecambe. 2008
Water samples were collected from 18 points around Morecambe Bay on two dates in June 2008.
The water was then tested for pH levels and for nitrates. All readings were constant with pH 7 and no nitrates detected except at Park Head and the River Keer. Both had pH 8 and had 44.3 mg/L Nitrate detected in the samples.
The results of the water tests were shown at the Winter Gardens in Morecambe for the summer months in 2008.
A text was written for the exhibition by Thomas Bell, Coastal Pollution Officer for the Marine Conservation Society to highlight the importance of the marine wildlife of Morecambe Bay and the effects of pollution.
